We continue our series on Social Media Ads for Dentists with this week’s topic:
We have discussed before that traditionally dental marketing was about putting an ad in the Yellow Pages, maybe a print ad or some direct mailers. Word of mouth helped grow a practice exponentially. While all of that is still certainly useful, the reality is your potential new patients are not necessarily grabbing their phone book anymore and word of mouth has moved online.
If you have invested in a website you have made the investment to be found online. Social Media ads like those on Twitter will help bring online word of mouth to your website or blog.
Why? Because this is where people spend their time. This is where people share information–about products, brands and services. This is where they look to see where other people in their community are going for these things.
Why Twitter? (Facts from DMR February 2014):
- There are 241 million active Twitter Followers.
- 100 million use Twitter daily.
- 29% check Twitter several times daily.
- 85% feel more connected to a brand after following them.
- 72% say they are more likely to buy from a brand they follow on Twitter
You may not have thought of Twitter as a dental marketing tool, but the reality is that every day businesses are harnessing the power of Twitter to engage with customers and potential new patients. This allows them to spread the word about their products and services and gain recognition for their brand.
A while back, Twitter rolled out their paid advertising option. If you use Twitter, you may have seen ads show up on your feed. If not, paid Twitter ads have become a growing way to market and advertise your services. Ads are seamlessly integrated into targeted user feeds and are a great way to bring attention to your practice, as well as any special events, services or promotions you may be having.
If your practice is not currently on Twitter, setting up an account is your first step. If you don’t have much experience with social media, or Twitter in particular, this may feel a bit confusing. You will get the hang of it quickly, or you can have a marketing professional handle it for you.
Paid ads are a great way to build a following quickly and having that following will allow you to engage with potential new patients on a very personal level. This engagement builds loyalty, provides incredible feedback and facilitates opportunities for you to fine-tune your dental marketing strategy. You will find out what potential new patients care about and adjust your message to highlight relevant services your practice offers.
Paid ads through Twitter have the power to reach thousands of people in your local area and build relationships with them, turning them into loyal patients who will refer your services to others. A phone book ad cannot engage or get feedback from its users. Twitter advertising is a cost-effective dental marketing tool that will help grow your practice.
